I have that Powershot! Jon got it for me for Xmas and I seriously love it! All the photos I take of Chayce, our "engagement" shoot, holiday pictures, etc have been taken with it. That camera paired up with a good Photoshop program can do some damn good work ;) I really reccomend it! It also teaches you how to work with Aperature and Shutter Speeds as well.
Ok, 1 more.. I had a Nikon Coolpix and I hated it. Just because it's "nikon" doesn't mean it's the best quality. My Nikon had 1 more megapixel than my Canon Powershot and the photos weren't even CLOSE to being as good. They were very grainy. Play around w/ them both if you can. Nikons are great, but not the coolpix line. I had two, and both of them died within 12 months.
